Some tips for the beginning of the school year for the teachers
- Introduce yourself and welcome all the students.
- Inform the students about the long term and short term goals.
- Introduce the classroom rules (e.g. respect others, bring materials, keep your desk tidy, raise your hand, use English, do your homework, participate actively, be prepared for classes, etc.)
- Present the coursebook.
- Make a list of some useful classroom expressions (e.g. Could you repeat that please? Can I open the door? Listen and repeat. Open the book. Look. Etc.)
- Do a warm-up activity (e.g. „Find someone who: travelled to another country, spoke English, visited his/her family, spent time at home during this summer holiday).
- Assign homework (e.g. Read the following blog post and leave a short comment – use pen and paper).
